Bouw kinderbibliotheek in Okorase begonnen

De bouw is begonnen. Zie foto's. In november ga ik het project bezoeken.

Hieronder een korte beschrijving van ons projectplan:

This project proposal of Biblionef in partnership with several Lions Clubs

encourages children development by improving their reading skills. This is

achieved through the following activities:

1. Donation of new children’s books and other materials to 20 schools so that

children have interesting materials to improve their learning and the library is

set up and/or much better equipped to fulfil its role.

2. Setting up two Learning Community Spaces (LCS’s) in Okorase and

Bolgatanga.

3. Training to teachers and persons in charge of books, like librarians, so that

the donated books and materials are optimally used. This is achieved by

teaching library management and reading motivation skills.

4. Evaluation of and feedback on the use of the books.

A broadened view of the world will provide help to resist peer pressure and

develop a positive self-image, self-discipline, good judgment and a sense of

responsibility. The project will support teachers to teach the children how to set

goals and make healthy decisions. It will support children to become
independent. Reading for pleasure will enrich their lives.

Soroptimistenclub de Veenkoloniën overhandigt cheque

Soroptimistclub de Veenkoloniën overhandigde donderdagavond 16 maart 2017 in de bibliotheek van Veendam een cheque aan Wia Huisman-Smeenk. Het project: Samen bouwen aan Bibliotheek Okorase in Ghana is door deze Soroptimistclub omarmd.

De club heeft diverse acties geïnitieerd o.a. deelname aan kerstmarkten Veendam en Stadskanaal, organisatie van een benefietfilmavond in Veendam, verkoop van tuinkruiden en voor het goede doel georganiseerde etentjes. Dankzij creativiteit, inspanning en sponsoring kon de club het eindbedrag middels een cheque bekend maken.

International is een wereldwijde organisatie van vakvrouwen die zich inzetten voor het verbeteren van de positie van vrouwen en kinderen. Lokale, regionale, nationale en internationale projecten worden actief ondersteund.

T-shirts en puzzels volgende week richting Accra

Komend weekend gaan vier dozen met T-shirts en puzzels richting Iede. Hij neemt deze dozen met materialen volgende week mee naar Accra. Dan kunnen de kinderen op de school in Adawso binnenkort met deze puzzels gaan spelen.
